PHOTO GALLERY - DUBS BY THE PUB (QLD)
The roaring 40s
Jam yesterday…
Bug Jam at Santapod Raceway in the UK began as a one-day only event on a sunny Sunday afternoon in July 1987. Around 3,500 people made it to the first Bug Jam although considerably more than that claim to have been there. I was there and I have the photos to prove it! These are some of my favourite photographs taken at the first shows. I should really get around to scanning the rest – some day…
DubFreeze
I went along to DubFreeze on Sunday afternoon at the Stafordshire showground and, even though I was only there for a couple of hours and as it was the first UK VW show of 2012 I thought it only right to use the opportunity to take a few Photographs.
It was very busy even at 1.30 when we got there. We passed lots of people heading back to their cars carrying bags of goodies and many with large roles of carpet over their shoulders. The indoor show and shine is always a mixed bag of around 30 VWs including watercooled, rat-look, resto-cal and a few stock VWs too. There were still some nice VWs still parked outside when we left at 3pm as well.

The Love Bug – Ten ways to get to the church on time
So, when you’re planning your ‘big day’, what do you choose as a memorable mode of transport? Perhaps you would choose a Rolls Royce or a horse drawn carriage but, for many couples their preferred ride comes in the shape of an air-cooled Volkswagen.
Volkswagen wedding hire is now a huge business in the UK with a long list of companies able to supply a VW beetle cabriolet or camper for that special occasion. Here’s a selection of photos by some top wedding photographers featuring the ‘peoples’ choice in transport!

San Diego Beach, Surf & a VW Bus
Reblogged from timm eubanks photography:
This just puts a smile on my face. Try to be in a bad mood if this is your bus in San Diego, on the beach, 75 degrees and you are about to get into the water. Photo nerd info: Nikon D7000, Nikon 50mm shot at f 1.4 @ 1/8000, drank a Dr Pepper without High Fructose corn syrup but real sugar.

True colours
True colours? Who knows! After seeing some great examples of black and white portrait ‘recolourisation’, Rob Amos, who runs the popular Vintage VW Website and forum – pre67vw.com, was inspired to try the same technique using some iconic black and white photographs from Volkswagen’s past as his starting point. I think you’ll agree that the results are excellent! I might just be tempted to have a try at this myself!
“I’m not trying to make it look like it’s not colourised – I really like the vintage look of a colourised photo, so thats what I’m trying to achieve.”
