The Bandwagen!

I’ve had the idea for this photograph for a while now so I decided to purchase a Bandai tin-plate VW pick up and a model drum kit and give it a try. I’d love to have a go at doing this for real one day, perhaps with some members of a brass band in the back instead of a drum kit!

Tinplate gold mine

I recently spotted this fantastic Tinplate Karmann Ghia listed on ebay with a starting bid of just 99 US cents!

Manufactured by the Japanese company Bandai in the mid 1950s, This ‘Automobiles of the world’ series tin toy Vintage Volkswagen looks to be in mint condition and includes the original box and printed product list of the other cars available in the series. I think this was quite a rare toy when it was produced especially in this great colour combination so that would make it extremely rare now I guess. I did contemplate bidding for it but it soon got way out of my league.
